Update from Khmelnytskyi, a city in western Ukraine
Letter from local church:
Peace to you brothers and sisters in Christ of the Church of the city of Shakopee! We thank God for each of you, for the faith and love for our brothers and sisters.
Our church «House of the Gospel» is located in Ukraine, the city of Khmelnitsky. We have continued to serve during this troubled time, mainly helping refugees from areas where there is active fighting. These are thousands of people, many of whom lost their homes as a result of bombing attacks. Some cities of Ukraine, such as Severodonetsk, Mariupol, Lisichansk, Kharkov and others, have been partially or completely destroyed, as a result of which people are forced to seek refuge in peaceful areas of the country.
We have already received about two thousand refugees, and people continue to come. For their reception, we placed mattresses in three halls of our church, and in Sunday school classes. People can stay with us for up to two days. We feed them and tell them about God, we give them Gospels and other Christian literature.
People are very scared, they need comfort and hope. They are contacted by a team of counselors who help refugees overcome anxiety and fear. We pray with them and for them. Finding hope and consolation, some people move further to the west, while others are looking for housing in the villages of our region.
We thank your church for wanting to support us financially to serve the refugees. We pray for you and for the development of our cooperation in the future. May the Lord bless your church and support it in all good endeavors. Through difficulties and suffering we become closer to each other, more like our Lord Jesus Christ! We wish you abundant God’s blessings!
